The Wasteland is an engaging alternate reality event based on theFallOut computer games, most specifically FallOut3 by BethesdaSoftworks. The setting is a section of the "capitol wasteland", an areaaround the ruins of Washington DC, two hundred years after adevastating nuclear war.

The Fallout world is not quite our own. It is an alternate realitywhich diverged from ours at some point after the second World War. Thebase concept for the setting is the World of Tomorrow as imagined inthe Golden Age of Science Fiction. This means that before the GreatWar, the Fallout world was more or less what the people of the 1940sand 1950s thought things would be like in 2077. The most importantevent in the Fallout setting was the Great War which happened onOctober 23, 2077. It lasted a mere two hours, but was unbelievablydestructive and changed the world for centuries to come.

Our game begins in the Capitol Wasteland of 2278. The wastelandsdangerous and hostile, inhabited by savage wasteland raiders and fearedslavers. The tough and violent supermutants are a threat near manyruined areas and the wastelands are also home to the radition ravagedghouls and even less friendly life forms. The Brotherhood of Steel andthe Enclave are two organizations with advanced pre and post-wartechnology, looking to save ancient knowledge or bring the wastelandunder their leadership. The ruthless mercenaries of Talon Company andthe bravery of proud Wastelanders may be encountered in ones travelsbetween settlements struggling to survive in the radioactive ruins.
